Community pride at planting bee
Alarm clocks buzzed for an early start on Saturday 25 February as over 70 parents, students and staff picked up their gloves and spades and headed to school by 8am to embed 600 new plants before the heat of the day set in.
New outdoor learning and entertainment area
The area being landscaped overlooks the Multipurpose Synthetic Sports Field and had been occupied by the maintenance shed, which was relocated next to the RLC over the Christmas break. This opened up a spacious area for redevelopment.
The garden was designed by parent Michael Cook and the project is jointly funded by the P&F and the school. The next step will be to install outdoor seating and shade structures, making the area ideal for outdoor learning and a perfect extension to the entertainment area around the P&F cafe.
Tremendous sense of community
"There was a tremendous sense of community," said Business Manager Wal Hopkins, "with junior and senior students, teachers, parents and Board members all rolling up their sleeves to beautify our grounds and create a legacy for the future. It was a privilege to be a part of it."
