AWSM by name. AWESOME by nature!
Last Sunday, Central Coast Grammar School staff and parents put their best foot forward in the fight against Cancer.
Team AWSM, a 26 member strong team, participated in the Seven Bridges Walk on what was a lovely warm, Sydney spring day. The walkers kicked off at Rozelle and finished 27km later back at Rozelle.
“This year we had an ambitious goal to raise $20,000 for the Cancer Council,” said AWSM Captain, Mrs Anita Parsons. “Walking for a cause that affects so many people in our school and broader community is really important. Every walker in our team has been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly.”
“As a close workgroup, we share in each other’s joys and challenges. We were inspired to enter as a team as a way of saying to each other and our colleagues, ‘we support you, we know what you’re going through, and we have your back’,” said Anita.
“Our team is pretty diverse. Some of us participated in the challenge for the fourth time while for others, it was their first time,” said Anita. “Not only was it a great way to exercise and to build camaraderie but the walk also takes in some of the most iconic and beautiful views of Sydney. Above all else, we have raised almost $15,000 for an extremely worthy cause.”
