New Kindy Classrooms now open!
Our 2016 Kindergarten students and parents were greeted with a very exciting surprise for their first day of school – 3 brand new Kindergarten classrooms! Teaching and learning in Kindergarten has never been more fun or exciting!
Over the Christmas break, the existing Kindergarten rooms were transformed into bright, open spaces with ample room for our youngest students to learn and explore.
The style and arrangement of the furniture caters to individual learners. CCGS Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs Jacqui McAtamney explains, “People love the curves of the desks. It makes us rethink class spaces. Overall the rooms are fantastic in enabling teachers to open the whole space up and engage all the children. It enables close connections between students, teachers and each other and flexible learning opportunities for all.”
Kindergarten Coordinator and Teacher, Maree Gross is also excited with the new learning opportunities for students. “The new classrooms are just beautiful. The colours are warm and inviting and the new furniture has been wonderful in providing learning spaces that allow for collaborative learning – a key aspect of next generation learners,” said Maree.
KEY FEATURES OF THE NEW ROOMS:
- Furniture can be configured into unique learning and instructional spaces which cater to a variety of learning styles
- Rooms are extremely spacious which allows for flexible learning centres and group work
- Pinboards on every wall means that teachers are able to create displays to showcase student work and teaching tools.
- Interior semi glass doors that can be completely opened gives teachers access to across the grade teaching/learning when and where appropriate.
Not only are the new rooms fantastic for teaching and learning, but the Kindergarteners love it.
“The students are so settled in the new rooms and many of my previous years’ kinder students are coming back to say they wish they were still in Kindy because it looks so lovely,” said Maree
